COVID-19 Update 2021 - Alaska
As per the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Health Advisory No. 4. – Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce: Ensuring Community and National Resilience in COVID-19 Response , posted August 18, 2020, mining is identified as "critical infrastructure". Any workers providing services related to “…supporting the mining, processing, manufacturing, construction, logistics, transportation, permitting, operation, maintenance, security, waste disposal, storage, and monitoring of support for resources” are deemed Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers and are allowed to travel and access their workplaces during times of community restrictions. With that in place, and barring any change in the situation, HighGold Mining is planning for the 2021 Johnson Tract field season to begin late May to early June with the opening of the JT camp followed by planned exploration program.
Prior to exploration start-up, Alaska authorities require the submission of a Community Workforce Protective Plan (CWPP) which outlines "protective measures your business will enact in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and not endanger lives in the communities in which you operate, of others who serve as a part of that infrastructure or the ability of that critical infrastructure to function". HighGold filed a CWPP for the Johnson Tract Project in June 2020 and it remains valid. HighGold will follow the guidance found in State of Alaska COVID-19 Response and Recovery Health Advisory No. 2 International and Interstate Travel , Section V, issued on April 26, 2021 with regards to the movement of its Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers to and from the Johnson Tract Project for the summer field season.
